The 2025 Lexus UX 300h has been unveiled globally, marking the luxury brand’s shift to using the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5). The new setup is more efficient and powerful than the previous model, replacing the existing UX 250h in the lineup.
The UX 300h is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and a new hybrid transaxle, which integrates two electric motors to boost the power output from 181 horsepower to 196 horsepower. This reflects the hybrid setup found in the Corolla Cross Hybrid. Additionally, the car’s old nickel-metal hydride battery has been replaced with a modern lithium-ion unit.
This powertrain update has improved the SUV’s acceleration, enabling it to go from 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds with front-wheel drive (7.9 seconds for AWD), which is 0.4 seconds faster than the previous model. The UX 300h FWD has an estimated combined fuel economy rating of 43 mpg, slightly better than the UX250h’s 42 mpg. The UX 300h AWD has a manufacturer-estimated fuel efficiency of 41 mpg.
The UX 300h has a new Copper Crest paint option, which is available in Base, Premium, and F Sport trims. The SUV has 18-inch alloy wheels as standard across the range.
Inside, the UX 300h has a new button layout on the door panels with chrome accents. Premium and F Sport trims have a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the Base model retains the 7-inch screen. The Lexus Interface touchscreen measures 12.3 inches in the top-spec F Sport and 8 inches in the other variants.
The UX 300h also comes equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Road Sign Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. The Safe Exit Alert is also included, which alerts the driver and passengers of any dangers when exiting the vehicle.
Pricing for the Lexus UX 300h will be announced closer to its launch in respective markets. The UX 300h is expected to be available in the latter part of next year for the 2025 model year. The UX is the first Lexus model to be equipped with the fifth-gen Toyota hybrid. Larger models like the Lexus NX are expected to receive a similar setup, but with a 2.5-litre four-banger, which can also be found in the new Camry Hybrid.
