If you’re eyeing Valve’s widely popular Steam Deck handheld, it might be worth waiting a bit longer for the upcoming upgraded version. Valve has recently announced an enhanced model of the Steam Deck, distinguished by the replacement of the original LCD touch screen with a more visually stunning OLED panel.
The upgraded Steam Deck OLED will be available in two storage variants – 512GB and 1TB, priced at $549 and $649, respectively. While sharing many hardware specs with the initial model, Valve emphasizes significant improvements in battery endurance, boasting up to a 50% enhancement over its predecessor.
In terms of the OLED display, it spans 7.4 inches and boasts smaller bezels compared to its forerunner. The display further enhances the user experience with a smoother 90Hz refresh rate, a notable improvement from the 60Hz found in the older Steam Deck model. Valve has also adjusted the prices of the previous LCD models, now set at $349 for the 64GB version, $399 for 256GB, and $449 for 512GB.
Mark your calendars, as the much-anticipated Steam Deck OLED is scheduled for launch on November 16th. Are you excited about these upgrades, and do you think they address any concerns you might have had with the initial model?
