Huawei is teaming up with Seres to create a new electric vehicle (EV) called the Aito M9, a spacious six-passenger SUV. Unlike Huawei’s previous collaboration with Chery for the Luxeed S7, this time, they are focusing on an electric SUVÂ to rival the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
The Aito M9 is not just about looks; it boasts impressive tech features. The headlights, for instance, come with built-in projectors that can display images and videos, essentially turning any flat surface into a 100-inch screen. Inside, there’s a 32-inch retractable panel mimicking the Theatre Screen in the BMW i7, along with a dashboard comprising three displays forming a seamless screen, similar to the Mercedes hyperscreen, and a large head-up display.
Adding to the digital experience, each of the four rear passengers gets a tablet running on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4 system. The SUV’s interior is versatile, allowing for different seating configurations, including transforming into a double bed. All seats are electrically operated and come with heating and ventilation.
Under the hood, the Aito M9 offers an all-electric powertrain with 390 kW (523 horsepower) and a range of 392 miles. Additionally, there’s an extended-range EV (EREV) version, featuring a 1.5-litre ICE generator working with dual electric motors, providing a combined 365 kW (490 hp) and an impressive range between 846-871 miles.
The Aito M9 is already available for purchase, with deliveries expected early next year. Prices start at 469,800 Yan (just over ₦59,599,500.00) for the M9 EREV Max and go up to just under ₦72,858,400.00 for the M9 EV Ultra. However, due to Huawei’s complicated history with the USA, it’s unlikely that this electric SUV will be seen locally anytime soon.
Seriously!
